I love the development of this story and all the supporting characters, especially Troy and Cillian. They have a lot to overcome and their journey is not easy. The banter is sarcastic, funny, and fantastic. They have a connection and a palpable attraction. She is trapped in a dysfunctional dynamic and has secrets of her own. He is so frustrating at times, but you understand why and my heart hurt for him.Īshling has her own damage and vulnerability.

Author Shen does a fabulous job with his character. Rough and gruff, with definite ideas on who and what he is, but he doesn’t allow his heart to shine through. Author LJ Shen delivers an addicting story filled with twists, steam, and angst in a world that is her own. The Monster by LJ Shen was one of my most eagerly anticipated books of the year.
