Sri: We first meet Sri when he becomes partners with Ming and Chen to dissect a human.

She comes across as less human as the rest of the doctors. She comes across as a strict character who is almost emotionless while still having emotions. She works in the hospital delivering babies. Later in the book she develops a relationship with Chen and ends up marrying him. Her and Sri do not get along because they both have different methods and approaches and want to be in control.

She becomes lab partners with Sri and Chen. When she was accepted to medical school and Fitz wasn’t she tried to help him with improving his study habits. She has an overprotective father who would not approve of the relationship she had with Fitz because of cultural differences. She traded him his study techniques for sex. Ming: She is a very intelligent student who learnt her study habits from her cousin. The rejection from Ming is the roots of his sorrow and over the book he turns into a harsh man who is power hungry. He resorts to drinking because he is not happy. He does get into medical school and when he has completed he changes from job to job. Eventually he stops seeking her but he isn’t the same person. He desperately tries to hold on and on many occasions tries to meet her unexpectedly. When Ming gets into medical school and he doesn’t she helps tech him to study, but soon their relationship falls apart. When she finally admits she has feelings for him they are together. He starts out as a very kind and almost shy undergraduate student who falls hopelessly in love with Ming. All of their stories intertwined as they interact.įitzgerald: He is an interesting character in the story and is the only one who shows a great shift in character.
